I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and have always loved the beauty of nature. I live in a 100+ year old farmhouse that my husband and I are remodeling. I am an avid gardener on a farmstead of 5 acres. I have two grown daughters and four grandsons. I have loved Interior Design all my life... I feel like I have always been a designer, because even as a little girl I had an idea about what made for a tasteful decor. My design philosophy is that design should be available for everyone who desires it.
I believe that interior design should reflect the client's style, and not the designer's, therefore, communication is of utmost importance. I ask alot of questions and take note of my client's most cherished objects. I also inquire about favorite memories from a special vacation, a dream destination, or serene place to escape. The way a room functions is equally as important because a pretty room that doesn't provide the functionality the homeowner needs is a waste of space. The rooms I design are not just another pretty space (pretty though indeed)!
I am also a professional Faux finisher. In many cases a faux finish can set the tone for the rest of the decor. They're are so many beautiful wall and ceiling finishes for every style of design, from old world to contemporary. This is another service I can offer my clients. I am certified in many types of finishes from Venetian plasters to Steely-metallic treatments.
Many of these finishes can also be applied to furniture pieces recreating them into unique, one-of-a-kind art. Faux finishing may not be for everyone, but color is, and I am exceptionally good at selecting a color scheme. In addition to Faux finishing and color consulting, I also do custom floral arranging with 25+ years experience. All the floral arrangements I create add the extra touch to a beautifully designed room.
I am easy to work with, and I have a casual demeanor, as well as a sense of humor. I try to make the design process an enjoyable experience for my clients, by keeping them informed every step of the way. I have been told that I have "integrity", and I am always conscientious of my client's time and budget.
I work primarily in the SE area of Wisconsin, but will consider traveling.
